Steps to Transform Your Future

May 22, 2015

Graduation time is here, and most students have their life planned out for at least the next 4 years minimum if they plan to attend college. 2 years if they are going to trade school or obtaining an associate’s degree.  Those that have obtained their degrees have many thoughts, plans, and goals in place that they are anxious to start working on. The Good News Notebook would like to help with keeping you positive and motivated while you take the next journey in your life.

As you give thought to your future – your future that may be 10 years; your future that may be five years; or your future that is 60 days away – you actually start pre-paving. And afterward, as you move into those pre-paved moment, and as that future turns into your present, you fine-tune it by saying ‘This is the thing that I now want.’ And those contemplation that you have set forth about your future, directly down to this minute when you are presently aiming what move you need to make, will all fit together to bring you decisively that which you now need to live.” – Abraham

The progressions we wish to get generally happen over time. In spite of the fact that we might want to bounce from beginning to end, and procure instant accomplishment, there are a couple of steps we have to take care of while moving in the direction of our objectives and dreams:
We have to realize what we need.
We have to accept that we can have what we need.
We have to escape from our own particular way by recognizing and discharging the objects that may be hindering our success.
We have to be willing to develop. Change inevitably calls for expanding our comfort places.
We have to follow through and take action that moves us in the course we wish to go.
We need individuals who have confidence in us and support us when doubt surface and the going gets intense.
We may need to learn new aptitudes or add to the ones we have so as to achieve the level of ability needed to make the lives we adore.
We should likewise create priorities, centering our consideration on the goals and dreams that matter most. This can be a challenge, particularly for those of us who have been taught to set our goals aside,
and concentrate on others’ needs first. Social standards and old ideal models may have us think other, yet wise keeping an eye on our dreams doesn’t make us selfish. It makes us solid, forms our self-regard and prompts self-satisfaction. As we learn to care for our dreams, we achieve a feeling of parity, and can care for others from a position of vitality, quality and wholeness.

As we change and develop, we turn into a greater gift to others. Our lives serve to move the individuals who witness our change and take into consideration new levels of recuperating and satisfaction for all concerned, we included.
Do you know what you want? If not, recall on the things that have brought you satisfaction and delight and start to do them. At that point, affirm that you should have a life you adore. Be willing to develop, and take inspired actions. Search out individuals who will champion you so you can take off to new levels of bliss and satisfaction, and find what you have to realize or know keeping in mind the end goal to understand your dream and goals.
Utilize the following affirmation as a day by day practice to remind yourself that you can have what you need and can accomplish it.
Affirmation: I recognize what I want and I have the strength needed to achieve it.

Here’s to a brilliant new future!

THE JOYS OF MOTHERHOOD

May 10, 2015

By Alonia Jones

Happy-Mothers-Day-Flowers-2

While there are many gifts that can be bestowed upon women, perhaps the greatest is that of being a mother. To me, it is sheer joy. In fact, it’s almost indescribable! I have been given the wonderful task of interviewing a few mothers so that I may present this article to you. Each one shared beautiful reflections of their dear mothers and how their influences have impacted their own motherhood. It is my sincere hope that these reflections will warm your heart and brighten your day.

Dean LindaLinda Dean – Atlanta, Georgia
Mother: Ruby Anderson
Children: Cammie Blackmon and Cory Kyser

I will forever appreciate the sacrifice my mother, Ruby Anderson, made to ensure that all her children were in church regularly. We were there for Sunday School, Bible Study and church services faithfully. What was interesting, though, was that my daddy would never come. Yet, that didn’t stop my mother from asking.

I remember one day we were all at church; without Daddy, of course. Before any of us knew anything, he walked into the church and gave his heart to the Lord. From that time on, he and my mama served the Lord together.

After I got older, I strayed away from the church. I know it was the seeds my mother planted in me that led me back to God. She died very young (age 55.) But even so, I’m so glad I can recognize that the wisdom she had was actually the gift of the prophecy. This gift, which is the greatest she could have ever bestowed, has now been passed through the generations, even to my grand-kids. For this, I shall be forever grateful.

Victoria WheelerVictoria Wheeler – Atlanta, Georgia
Mother: Geraldine Grady
Children: Brittany Bailey and Jarica Hunter

My mother, Geraldine Grady, was a very honest, straightforward and caring person. I did not realize the extent of her concern for others until she passed away. I still marvel at how people have shared stories of what a wonderful person she was. One that amazed me the most was how she put her life on the line just to save someone else. The owner of a downtown grocery store told me that two guys came in to rob the store. My mother courageously stood between the gun and the lady and told the young man, “This is not going to happen today. You all are going to leave this lady alone. Go on out the store and act like this didn’t happen.”

This was only one of the ways she stood up for people that would never stand up for themselves. As the oldest of eight kids, she did the same for her siblings. Standing up and respecting others is what I instill in my kids. People said my mom fed and clothed them and even paid their bills. I’ll forever remember her loving spirit and her wit.

Be FLY Launch 140614-191Velma Parks – Atlanta, GA
Mother: Cora E. Childs Reese
Children: Lala Harrison (deceased), Alonia Jones, Micheal Parks

Growing up in Auburn, Alabama, my mother, Cora Reese, would sit me down around the fireplace and talk about the facts of life and her upbringing. Each night, she would read the Bible to me and explain the passages. She often told me, “Get an education and learn to do some things for yourself. That way, if your marriage doesn’t work, you won’t have to depend upon someone else for a handout.”

On Sunday mornings before church, Ma would fix us a hearty meal: rice and pork chops some days, fish and grits on others. She kept us involved in everything the church had to offer, and she was very strict about us going to the movies on Sunday, a day to be reserved as sacred. She was so serious about our relationship with God that she made me go back and “tarry” when I joined the church because she said she wasn’t convinced I was for real. So I went back and prayed and sang until I knew for sure that I had an encounter with God. My life has never been the same. I can only hope that I have made as many deposits in my own children and grandchildren lives.

We have all been there, the moment when you must go to the bathroom. If you are driving you simply pull over to the nearest gas station or restaurant. If you are in the mall or a strip mall, walk to the first place you see open.  Finding a restroom sounds easy, but finding a “clean” one can become quit complicated.

1. Target (they keep a cleaning crew on staff to ensure guest receive the cleanest restroom possible)
2. Arby’s ( has a bathroom time check off)
3. Upscale/chain Hotel lobby ( they must impress and keep their high end clients)
4. Museums (low traffic)
5. Chick fil a (great customer service all the way to the restroom)

So what if can not find any of these locations around that we have suggested?

We found 4 free apps that help you locate the cleanest restrooms in your area.

Available for the iPhone and Blackberry, Sit or Squat lets you search for a public toilet by entering your address, zip code, intersection, or city. For each entry you’ll find general cleanliness, the rules of entry, and sometimes even photos. Restrooms are rated on a scale of 1 to 5 and if you disagree with someone’s review, you can submit your own.

Although the site doesn’t offer an app, you can easily take advantage of the mobile site on your smart phone. Simply enter your location and the app will pull up a list of nearby restrooms, its rating, and whether or not it’s free. On some entries you’ll also find details like if it has a diaper changing station and wheelchair access.
